Yesterday

Yesterday was our last day with the home owner. Yesterday we put on the last coat of paint and finished the back deck, the guys prayed with the home owner, and we all took pictures with him. His mother, who lives with him, shared wonderful stories with us and her son said that when he was in a band he met all kinds of famous people. It was so cool listening to his stories! We had so much fun at chapel with all the stories about labels and how they effect us. Then when we had group time we sat together under the stars and prayed for the home owner and his family. We prayed for family and friends back home too. Wish I was home. Hope everyone at home keeps us in their prayers and keeps up hope. I promise we'll be home soon. We Bless you all!!!!

No fingers cut off.

Today we did the first coat of paint on our owners house. However, most of the paint ended up on our skin and clothes, not the walls. Also all the girls in our group learned how to use the circular saw! Finally, we achieved all of our goals we had set for the day. :)

And so the work begins...

Today was our first day on the job site! We are working with another group from Adrian, MI- small world! Our homeowners are the Hendersons; a man and his mother. We started the day off tentatively by getting lost in the forest and by watching Amber's am.az.ing backing up skills. Once on the worksite, we were told that our job for the week is to build from scratch a new back porch, scrub, prime, and paint the house, and demo and start a remodel of the front porch. Eventually Team Effort groups will put on a new roof.
In was hot! Even so, we got it all primed, the front demoed and the frame of the back built and trussed.
The camp we are staying at, Wildwater Express, is HUGE! After a hard days work, we can swim, do the "blob," rock climb, and go on this ginormous swing thing. Fun stuff!
During devotions tonight we continued our discussion about baggage-focusing on how priorities and possessions need to stop being #1 and instead to put God in His rightful place in our lives.
We finished off with small group praise and discussion.
We have a great group of adults and teens this week! God is doing big things.
Thanks for lifting us up in prayer....keep it up!

Day 2: Car Ride Adventure cont.

We have had several awesome experiences today which include being seranaded over the Walkie talkie by the boys car and being passed by a toaster, Andreas Gatorade problems and reinactments of Carter's snack needs. We played an awesome game of freeze. The camp is beautiful but hotter than all get out. We are having a blast! Goodnight for now.

Day 1: On the Road

Well... We set off on our adventure this afternoon! Tennessee or bust. It didn't take long for the snoozing to begin. After stopping for raw chicken nuggets, we arrived in Dry Ridge, Kentucky for the night. Here are some photos of the kids blowing off some energy in the pool.
From now on, the teens will be managing the blog so you'll get their perspective on the trip. Enjoy!
Continue to keep us in your prayers that we will have safe travels and a fun, faith-building time together. Thanks!

Here we go again...

The final plans are being made and papers being signed. In 8 days we will pack up and head to Copperhill, TN. There, we will work for a family to build, paint, or remodel a home, all while sharing our faith. Please pray that we have safe travels, and that the youth grow in and live their faith. As long as Internet is available, we will be updating the blog nightly while we are away so check back often!!
